The rapid development of China's garment industry has become the largest garment producer, exporter and consumer

With the beginning of the 21st century, since 2003, the Chinese clothing pattern seems to have become as clear as people expected. People are more rational, more targeted, or more realistic, but never forget the ideal.

The garment industry is a traditional pillar industry of China's national economy, an important civilian production industry, and an industry with obvious advantages in international competition. It is also a fashion industry, a cultural and creative industry, a high-tech application industry, and a modern service industry. The rapid development of China's garment industry has become the world's largest producer, exporter and consumer of garments. It plays an important role in prospering the market, expanding exports, absorbing employment, increasing farmers' income, and promoting the development of urbanization.

Especially during the 10 years since the 16th CPC National Congress was held, the clothing industry has continued to explore in terms of ideas, technology, product development, management methods, energy conservation, emission reduction, market development, and channel models, and has become the most developed in history. The “golden ten years” with the fastest speed, the most obvious structural adjustments, and the greatest increase in technology and quality benefits have laid a solid foundation for achieving the goal of “powerful country”.

Production (1) According to the growth rate in the first half of the year, the clothing output in 2012 is expected to reach 27.4 billion pieces, which is 2.8 times that of 2003.

In recent years, although the apparel industry in China has been affected by the slowdown of global economic recovery in the post-crisis era and the impact of weak demand, the production rate has gradually slowed down. However, the production growth of clothing enterprises above the designated size is still strong. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2003, garment enterprises above designated size in the garment industry in China completed 9.843 billion garments production in the year. Among them, the production of woven garments was 4.939 billion; the output of knitted garments was 4.781 billion. In the first half of 2012, a total of 12.47 billion garments were produced by enterprises above designated size in China, an increase of 7.73% over the same period of 2011. Among them, 6.352 billion woven garments, an increase of 8.05% over the same period of 2011; 6.118 billion knitted garments, an increase of 7.40% over the same period in 2011.

According to the growth rate of garment production in the first half of 2012, the annual clothing production in 2012 is expected to reach 27.4 billion pieces, and the production scale is 2.8 times that of 2003.

(II) The central and western regions and the three northeastern provinces have maintained a growth trend, and the garment industry has shifted its focus toward the interior.

At present, China's top five garment production provinces are still Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, and Fujian Provinces in the eastern region. The total output of the five provinces accounts for nearly 74% of the country's total output. However, in terms of the growth rate, the central and western regions The performance of the three northeastern provinces is much more prominent than in the eastern region.

From January to June 2012, the output of the eastern region increased by 5.17% year-on-year, which was lower than the national growth rate of 7.73%. The output of the Central, Western, and Northeastern regions increased by 14.29%, 17.92%, and 46.16%, respectively. The growth is relatively strong.

The slowdown in the growth of output in the eastern region, and the strong growth performance of the central and western regions and the three northeastern provinces highlighted the current shift in the production capacity of garments from the coastal areas to the central and western regions.

In 2003, the top five provinces and cities in terms of apparel production were Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong and Shanghai, all of which were in the eastern provinces and cities, accounting for a combined total of 80.3%; in the first half of 2012, the output ranked among the top five. Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, and Fujian provinces are also all eastern provinces, and their total output fell to less than 74% of the country's total output.

Compared with 2003, in the first half of 2012, the proportion of output in the top 15 provinces accounted for more than the increase in the number of provinces and cities in the Midwest and East, for example, the top 15 provinces in 2012. In the city, there are 4 cities that accounted for a decrease, accounting for 11 provinces and cities in the eastern provinces and cities. Among them, 8 are in the midwest and the three provinces.

Exports (1) Exports grew steadily.

The international market has always been an important factor driving the development of the apparel industry in China. Although factors such as the international financial crisis and the slow recovery of the global economy in recent years have caused the shrinking demand in the international market and created greater pressure on China's garment industry, from the perspective of overall development, since 2003, the scale of China's garment exports has continued to grow. Faster.

According to customs statistics, in 2003 China completed a total of 52.066 billion U.S. dollars in exports of garments and accessories, and the number of exports was 17.744 billion. In 2011, the cumulative export value of clothing and clothing accessories in China was US$153.22 billion, and the number of garment exports was 29.223 billion.

In 2011, the garment export amount was 2.9 times that of 2003, and the export volume was 1.6 times that of 2003. From January to June 2012, China completed a total of US$67.513 billion in exports of clothing and clothing accessories, and the number of exports was 13.336 billion.

(2) The unit price of exports has increased significantly, and garment exports have been driven from quantity-driven to price-driven.

In recent years, with the rise of ***, raw material prices, rising labor costs and other factors, the unit price of China's garment exports has been rising, and the increase in the unit price of clothing has become the main driving force for the growth of overall apparel exports. Exports have changed from quantity-driven to price-driven.

Domestic sales (a) Retail sales of retail enterprises above designated size in 2012 are expected to exceed 600 billion yuan, which is 7 times that of 2003.

In the first half of 2012, retail sales of garment enterprises above designated size reached 324.41 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 16.4%. It is estimated that the annual scale will exceed 600 billion yuan, and the retail sales volume will be 7 times that of 2003.

(II) After the price dropped for many consecutive years, it showed a relatively fast upward trend in the past two years.

According to the data from the National Bureau of Statistics, from 2003 to 2010, the retail prices of clothing, footwear, and hats in China showed consecutive declines over the past several years, and the decline rate did not change much. The overall index change remained stable, but since 2011, clothing The retail price of shoes and hats began to show a significant increase year-on-year, with a year-on-year increase of 2.4%. In the first half of 2012, the increase further increased to 3.3%.

(3) The sustained and substantial increase in apparel prices in the past two years has largely affected the growth in apparel sales.

In recent years, especially in the past three years, the sustained and rapid rise in clothing prices has, to a large extent, affected the growth of clothing consumption by residents.

According to the statistics of the China National Business Information Center, in 2011, the growth rate of all types of apparel retail sales in key large retail enterprises nationwide was only 4.36%, a 5.84 percentage point slower than the growth in retail sales in 2010. By the end of the first half of 2012, the nationwide The retail sales of all types of clothing of key large retail enterprises decreased by 0.05% year-on-year.
